Explore the narrow streets and alleyways that wind through this picturesque coastal town towards the busy quayside. The picture postcard harbour is overlooked by the ruins of the ancient St Hilda’s Abbey high on Whitby’s East Cliff. Why not trek the 199 steps from the old town of Whitby that lead up to Parish Church of St Mary, the scene of which was inspiration for Bram Stoker’s famous book, Dracula.
Just a short distance from Scarborough is the traditional English seaside resort of Filey. A holiday hotspot since the Victorian era, Filey offers golden sands and a fishing harbour village with quaint shops and cafes. If your looking for fun seaside activities for the kids then look no further than a day out to Bridlington. The beachside promenade is packed with kids rides and amusements or you can show off your sand castle making skills on either of Bridlington’s two award winning beaches.
